Though the inclusions in moss agates resemble moss, they are actually caused by manganese and iron oxides and are inorganic.  It creates a beautiful and amazing look inside the stone and gives it a 3-D appearance. 

This stunning cabochon was handshaped and polished by Ed Orekar of California.  I have wire wrapped it in 14k gold filled wire and it measures 2-3/8"Lx1-3/8"W.
