Winter Finding

It is a beautiful day today and I do so love to wander in the yard. I began to think I saw a window. Now we have lived here over a decade and never before have I thought I'd seen a window over there before. So I went in search of what I thought I'd seen. Oh it was a window alright and some small building. How had we never seen it before? I lured my husband and another fellow to come look. My husband said there was no building over there. I called my mother and she said she thought she had seen something the other day but thought it must be much farther away than it appeared. I can well understand how we missed it during the summer months when things are lush and green but I do not know how we have missed it during the winter months before.

We tippy toed through brush and bramble with me carefully pulling up the rear in case of the need for a quick getaway. Our eyes are telling us this has been there a very long time but our heads are saying it can't be so. Now where we live, going in a building that has been long idle could produce might near anything so you really can see that it was important for someone to stay back and let someone else see first what was in there.

Thank goodness the other fellow was brave. The building is suspended over a ditch or ravine on railroad ties. He crept along one of the railroad ties to see in the door which faces the direction the ditch runs. He peeped inside and said "It's a sh#tter". Well I'd still be holding if I had to go in that thing! Maybe it was a fine outhouse in it's day? Still I cannot figure out how we have never seen it before.

The Outhouse I put brand new batteries in my camera and headed out to get these pics. I had only taken a few when my camera went dead. Batteries depleted! Oh the fun I'm going to have with my new finding. I am going to scare the fool out of some folks by creating the legend of the outhouse ghost. The guys had already seen me change the batteries in the camera so they were my first easy targets.

What a great find!!

Randy Emerick has cut and hand-shaped some beautiful stones then vibe tumbled them to create awesome pendants so check him out in "BikerRandy's Pendants". He sent me some stunning pendants made from the African stones that will become wire wrapped pendants soon. Be watching for these new additions to the wire wrapped jewelry!

"KD'sCreations" New York Artisan Patricia Barnes has created these custom designed bead and gemstone necklaces. Her exquisite creativeness shows in each and every piece of jewelry she fashions. I met her as KrazyDiamond so I have titled her page KD'sCreations. We are proud to have her on board. Her jewelry will be shipped to you from her studio in New York.

"Earthtones by Nannette" Each piece of this collection is as unique as nature. They all began their journey the same way, as rough rock pulled from the ground. The process of breaking, grinding, shaping and polishing the stones takes 1-2 months. Three pounds of rough stone will usually yield 5-10 individual pendants and earrings that are true gifts of the Earth. I do little pre-shaping and let the natural action of the stones and polishing media determine the final shape. When you wear EarthTones, you are truly wearing a piece of nature. Enjoy! ~ Nanette Cookson

"Tracy's Treasures" will feature stained glass art created here in the Mississippi Delta. She has completed the upstairs window for the workshop. We have gotten her a work area set up as she doesn't have the proper space at home. She has no excuse now!

"Wycked Wyre by Susan" features wire wrapped pendants from our New Mexico artisan. Susan has numerous wire wrapped semi-precious gemstone pendants completed and on the site.

"Wrapsody in Wire" features wire sculptured cabochons and cameos from our Virginia artisan, Denise. Denise has a multitude of hobbies and we are fortunate she is sharing some of her talent with us.

Be sure to take note of Denise's Wire Sculptured Opalized Wood Pendant as the cabochon was created by Trish. You can check out Trish's work at "TriBens's Treasures in Stone".

"Banjo-Creek" You should also check out Arizona artisan, Michael Hagstrom. He has a bit of everything to offer from rough to wraps.

"Stone Wrapture" Minnesota Artisan, Cher, creates custom wire wrapped pendants using polished stones and sterling silver or gold filled wire. You can send her a stone of your own or request one from her collection.

If you are into Jade or Jade collecting, check out Tony's site's "Pacific Jade Art Forum" and "Pacific Jade Art".

The red brecciated jasper, vogesite, yellow jasper, and pink star stone are running low. If you see something you like in these get it now as I don't know when or if we may get some more. Please check out "RedwoodRocks" on ebay as he may have these items or something I do not have.

If you see something you are interested in and I don't have it listed in a size, slab, or quantity that interests you, do not hesitate to e-mail me with your needs. There are plenty of rocks here for you slabbing, cabbing, spheremaking, or tumbling needs.
